These are recordings from Thomas Park's "Radio In C" web application. Radio In C was designed to provide a variant of Terry Riley's famous minimalist piece, "In C", in which players were allowed to sporadically perform certain phrases in the key of C. Radio In C is a generative environment, and it may be found here:  https://www.thomasparksolutions9.com/

In late 2018, Thomas Park began combining his musical skills with coding. One of his goals was to render cc-licensed material more readily available.  Thomas' online player site, the "Thomas Park Audio Explorer", became quite popular. It provided a steady stream to listeners that shifted between various playlists of cc-licensed music. In 2019, Thomas expanded his code, creating a series of stations that actually composed the music as users listened. A series of players on a single...

In the year 2018, I started creating various python programs that enable users to search a public archive, the Internet Archive, for material based on search terms. The programs worked a lot like the archive's own search engine, but some functionality was added. Users could experience one or several of their results. One option allows for six videos, chosen at random from the results, to be played simultaneously. For this release, "Studies In Panic", I used this feature. I searched...

All of the music in "Tandem Doppler" was recorded live and in real time. The "Eavesdrops Edit" was made using a live mixing console that I created for a group collaboration. I simply let the console play for about 5 minutes, and recorded the ensuing iterations. The other two tracks used a new method I have been working on that involves slicing beat loops into short pieces, and using these pieces as elements for live mixing. These tracks use anywhere from 40 to 60 loops...

I wanted to assemble some works from the most desperate and miserable part of my life-- not for you to feel sorry for me, but for you to know that people have been there, and they have found their way out of it. A unique combination of blues and industrial, "Songs From The Corner" touch on the essence of loneliness and grief. These tracks were written as the act "mystified" between the years of 2003 and 2008. I chose, as a cover, an outtake of El Greco's "Pieta",...

“I have a bittersweet relationship with Saint Louis-- it is where I have lived most of my life. It’s also largely where I lost my youth. Over the years, it has fallen into more decay, losing residents and businesses.” “I feel that it retains a certain particular beauty-- maybe that’s why I think of it as a ‘New Orleans of the MidWest.’” “These photographs were all taken in 2018, during the gray and gloomy months of October and November.” “I hope that you enjoy them”....

My history with the written word is not that unusual. As a student, I began by consuming it. Before long, I learned to process and regurgitate it. I was good at that-- an "A" student, who was known for his essays. My English teacher presented me with a writing award, calling me, "Pithy".   I read quite a bit in high school and college. The material I liked best I was not mainly prepared to understand. For many years I quit reading-- other than magazines, newspapers or...

In 2018, I thought of a new model for live events: “TRANSPARENCY”. With transparent events, as much of the material is available to attendees, easily and freely, as possible. An idea behind TRANSPARENCY is to make an event so clear, open and easy to follow that any attendee could virtually run the event. Attendees should be able to construct a similar event of their own after attending yours. Why create TRANSPARENT events? I am a proponent of free culture-- and, in an era where data and...

If you have a problem or issue, it may have something to do with a system-- and if it does, some consideration of what kind of system, and what that means, could help you to solve your issue-- or, at least, to more thoroughly define it. One of the biggest mistakes a musician can make in digital audio is to render their songs at too high a volume. This practice results in a loss of audio quality, and can create unwanted sonic artifacts. This document demonstrates how to identify clipping in an audio editor, and discusses ways optimize one's audio. For more information about the author of this document, feel free to visit his archive item, "Benchmark: Hub" .

The Emissions Series : A series of soundscapes created inspired by the notion that Climate Change is real, and that its main cause involves emissions made by man. Not all people agree with this theory, even though the scientific community at large has suggested, if not proven, that it is true. The remedy for climate change involves, predominantly and simply, a shift to renewable energy. This has been known for decades, and is possible to achieve, with an admission of the facts and a concerted...

In 2018, Thomas Park became interested in creating his own legacy-- and perhaps, in creating legacies for others. He saw the internet, and especially the Internet Archive, as a great resource for preserving and providing access to culture. Thomas wanted to suggest that those who want to create their own legacies, can and should do so-- that by assembling and posting documents, videos, photographs, and audio, people can share memories for those coming after. Anyone interested in discussing this...

While working in a recording studio, I noticed quite a few artists using beats that had copyrights, or some form of attribution attached. As a result, they may never be able to market their works. I wanted to supply a set of beats and phrases for use in the public domain, so that artists can freely integrate them into their pieces without the need to supply credits or compensation. And here they are-- the "MystBeats".

Thomas Park assembled a series of phonographic recordings that he called, "Near-Still-Lifes". The notion behind them was that the camera would remain stationary, the only motion visible being that which happened in the camera's view. This item contains Near-Still-Life videos that were assembled thematically, and set to music.  The document in this item was written to explain and describe a few of Thomas' concepts about these Near-Still-Life videos.

In 2017, Thomas Park created a project called "Grid Resistor". Grid Resistor involved the composition of industrial drone textures using only machines as sound sources-- and using, when possible, a contact microphone for recording them. Through this project, Thomas assembled a series of videos using Grid Resistor audio material. This item is a set of those videos. Several of the items were collaborative in nature. "Model 201" was  a project created by Thomas Park in 2017. It involved the use of old mystified cassettes as source material. Through the course of the project, Thomas created a number of videos using Model 201 pieces. Here is the collection of those videos. There are 3 videos that were collaborative-- "A Series For Analog Tape" features photography by artist Randee Silv. “Model 201” was a musical project that Thomas Park conceived of in 2017. His method for the project was to rip old Mystified cassettes (Mystified being a previous project of Park’s), and then to use these sounds, either directly, or, more commonly, in processed form. So, Thomas would locate an old mystified cassette release, rip it to 24 bit lossless audio, then transform these ripped sounds using a random effects software. These sounds became the building blocks for Model 201 pieces....

At some point, during the year 2015, I began to have a strange and persisting intuition about Russian President Vladimir Putin. I felt that he was going to soon play a larger role in international politics. That year, I created a musical release called “Sovereign” ( https://archive.org/details/MystifiedSovereign )  (2015 Treetrunk Records). It was both a tribute to Rapoon’s “Cold War: Drum ‘N’ Bass” (2001 Caciocavallo), and a newer take on Cold War fears, involving predominantly...

In the years between 2000 and 2012, Thomas Park lived in a low-rent apartment in the South Side of Saint Louis. There he made a number of recordings. Many of these recordings were used, in raw or processed fashion, in pieces of music (largely as his project, "mystified"). Thomas wanted to share the phonographic recordings he had saved on an external drive-- particularly those that were not changed through the use of digital effects. Thomas Park took several scores of recordings of machines made using a contact microphone, in high fidelity, and ran them through a program that adds random processes to the sounds. He chose the 100 best outtakes, and trimmed them to make them usable. These sounds are fun for listening, and would be ideal for using as elements in music or sound design.
